The North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) surprised seven lucky teachers with Innovative Grants thanks to a generous donation by Mike Willis and H-E-B. A total of two grants were delivered, one at Canyon Ridge Elementary School for a Sensory Room and the other at Tuscany Heights Elementary School for an Early Motor Lab.

Mike Willis, General Manager of H-E-B Plus at Evans Road, recently retired after 25 years of service. As a parting gift, H-E-B gave him $10,000 to donate to a charity or cause of his choosing. Willis has a long-standing relationship with North East ISD and even served as a founding member of the Johnson High School Campus Improvement Committee.

“H-E-B was very gracious in giving me funds to donate,” said Willis. “I looked at lots of grants that the money could be used for and after speaking with Dr. Gottardy and Amy Lane, I knew the Foundation was where I wanted to give. I chose these two grants because they are impactful and have longevity. It all worked out great.”
