The Roosevelt Community Garden, funded by a NEEF Grant, was the perfect spot for the Roosevelt High School Family Health and Wellness Fair.

Members of the community gathered around the garden on April 18 to get important health and wellness information from various community and health organizations. Visitors were also able to see the assortment of vegetables and plants blooming thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Garden Club, Environmental Science classes and green-thumbed volunteers.

Javier Garza, a junior at Roosevelt High School proudly showed off the bed he recently planted with spinach, tomatoes and peppers. Garza said, “the garden has brought more attention to our school and a positive way to work with the community.”

The garden strives to reach out to not only Roosevelt students, but members of the community who are looking for a way to get their hands in the dirt and contribute to society.
