The North East Educational Foundation’s (NEEF) 2017 Softball with the Superintendent was a big hit! Going on just its second year, the community event at the new North East Sports Park features two fun-filled softball games, along with plenty of food, activities and vendors. The friendly competition included two games featuring North East ISD leadership against eight local organizations who purchased a place in the game as an auction item at the NEEF Gala last February.
North East ISD band students, choir students, school mascots and spirit groups chimed in by adding a wonderful pep rally atmosphere. Special guest Chuck Miketinac, from Fox 29 San Antonio, warmed up the crowd and gave the celebrity first pitch.
Guests were able to donate to the foundation through Big Give SA, a day of online-giving to benefit local charities, during the event. NEEF won the 6-7 p.m. hour of giving for its category through Big Give. Participants were entered into a raffle for an Amazon Kindle, won by Debora Packard from Central Office, and teachers received free meals sponsored by RBFCU in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.
Even with a few cuts and bruises, the players shared big laughs and good times in the balmy Texas weather. Business partners, community members and NEISD leadership had a great time playing softball together and the entire NEISD family is already looking forward to next year’s big game.
