Next stop, Addy Awards! Esther Guerra, CTE Digital Communications Teacher, has elevated the Future Innovative Filmmakers Program to new heights with the help of a NEEF Grant totaling $11,158.34. Equipped with professional-level gear and software, her students crafted an award-winning National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) promotional video, which snagged three accolades at the BexarFest Film Festival.

In addition to collaborating with the PTSA, the students produced a powerful PSA for the “Shattered Dreams” program. To bring this program to life, the class orchestrated and filmed a simulated drunk-driving crash, complete with realistic emergency responses, including an actual rescue helicopter. Witnessing the event’s intensity, senior Dylan Fonville articulated,” I think it’s essential to make good decisions while driving because, unfortunately, things like this happen.”

Vanessa Morales, a recent Johnson graduate and part of the project’s camera crew, enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to work with professional camera equipment, feeling well-prepared for college and future freelance projects.

This is only one example of how your generous donations to NEEF raise the level of learning and accomplishment at NEISD schools. If you would like to help build an excellent future for NESID students, consider donating to NEEF at northeastfoundation.org/donations
