Tobin Center Teaching Artists Enhance Classroom Learning

At Castle Hills Elementary School, Tobin Center teaching artists work alongside school teachers to integrate arts with the classroom curriculum. A North East Educational Foundation Innovative Grant for $5,000 made this collaborative teaching arrangement possible.

Sandy Guerra, the Assistant Director of Professional Learning at NEISD, describes how teaching artists weave an artform (whether music, theater or performing arts) into the planned instruction. “Our students at Castle Hills Elementary had a lot of fun with our music teaching artist who shows that music and movement create patterns and are aligned in math.”
