Exciting Times at NESA: Launching the Web Series “Famish”

Jan 14, 2025 | Grants, Our Stories

A year ago, the NESA program at Lee was awarded a generous grant of $33,493.96 from NEEF, and the grant results are astounding! With the financial support, our students have created the first season of their web series, “Famish,” thanks to the vision and leadership of Amy Charney, NESA’s Director of Creative Writing and the mastermind behind the grant. With the funds, they invested in professional-grade equipment that opened up a world of possibilities for aspiring creators. Students from seven different majors came together to bring the pilot to life. Writers, cinema students, dancers, theater and art majors, and musicians play a vital role in the production process.

The students brimmed with enthusiasm when reflecting on their work. Autumn Campos, a junior with dreams of studying film, expressed her excitement about working with such high-quality equipment. Her classmate, Colton Sparks, echoed her sentiments, saying, “It was fun, and I can’t wait to see where this takes us next!”

Meanwhile, senior Tanielle Dlamini found her experience in the web series to be incredibly fulfilling. “I loved being part of the web series; it’s such a thrilling experience,” she shared. She particularly enjoyed collaborating with friends in the writing room and honing her acting skills.

The passion and dedication these students have shown throughout this project are truly inspiring. We can’t wait for you to see what they create this year! Stay tuned for more updates on Famish!
