Brandon Turner, the Program Coordinator for NEISD’s Physical Education and Health Program, shared the exciting news: “Ever since the announcement of The North East Sports Park Disc Golf Course, community members have been flocking to the area daily to practice, toss, and enjoy playing disc golf with friends.” This initiative, made possible by a $10,845 NEEF grant, enriches the lives of NEISD students and benefits the broader community. The diverse terrain of the course, which includes open fields and wooded trails, offers challenges suitable for players of all skill levels.
Churchill High School was the first NEISD class to experience this new course. They enjoyed an instructional outing on a sunny day, with some participants being new to the sport. In contrast, others brought their prior experience—and even some music—for a lively atmosphere. Senior Levi Brunotte, although not a newcomer to disc golf, was thrilled to try out the NESD Sports Park for the first time. He looked forward to exercising and having fun beneath the expansive Texas blue skies.
As the school year progresses, Katie Steinhoff, NEISD’s Health Program Coordinator, noted plans to bring more campuses to the Disc Golf Course.
NEEF takes great pride in supporting a program that benefits the entire NEISD community, emphasizing that such initiatives wouldn’t be possible without generous contributions from donors.
