Selena Davila is one of 75 new North East ISD teachers who were surprised with a $100 supply grant from the North East Educational Foundation (NEEF) today. She can’t wait to get into her classroom at Royal Ridge Elementary School and make it a special place for her students.

“I’m really excited because I want to use this money to get posters that represent our diverse population,” said Davila. “I really want them to be able to see themselves in my classroom.”

Regency Place Elementary School teacher Crystal Cadengo is new to San Antonio so this grant came at the perfect time.

“This means a whole lot,” said Cadengo. “I just moved to San Antonio. Starting out, it will be very helpful to buy new items for the students to make the environment feel welcoming and inviting.”

The supply grants are just one part of the Foundation’s main mission to fund innovative classroom grants for NEISD teachers. Innovative grants will be awarded in late September and early October.

NEEF is a private non-profit charitable corporation that works to raise money to expand educational opportunities for NEISD students. NEEF funds a wide range of innovative classroom projects, including mental health initiatives, community gardens, special education resources and STEAM programs.
