NEISD’s JROTC Reaches New Heights at Camp Henson with Grand Opening of the Rappel Tower

Oct 21, 2024 | Our Stories

Today, we celebrated the grand opening of the new rappel tower at Camp Henson, a dream of COL Henson that came to life thanks to COL William LaChance, Director of Army Instruction for NEISD. This remarkable tower, made possible by the generous contributions of many, including our Foundation, which raised $150,000, and the significant support from the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation, is a unique addition to Camp Henson.

With the addition of the rappel tower, Camp Henson has transformed into a vibrant center for JROTC programs. It now boasts a variety of confidence-building obstacle courses, including ropes courses, climbing walls, and more, all designed to challenge, inspire, and empower our youth. This expansion not only benefits our schools but also opens doors for organizations across South Texas, offering them the opportunity to sponsor and experience the transformative Confidence Course.

Your support is crucial for Camp Henson’s future growth plans, which include a Leadership Reaction Course and a Multipurpose facility. We invite you to participate in this journey by considering a donation through NEEF at northeastfoundation.org/donations. In the “in honor of” field of the donation form, please designate your contribution “For JROTC.” Your generosity will make a significant difference.
